DECO Australia gains global QUALICOAT licence

DecoWood® combines the natural beauty of timber with the durability of aluminium.

Following extensive testing and auditing, DECO Australia has satisfied all the requirements of QUALICOAT and has now received a licence to use the QUALICOAT quality label. DECO Australia is a leading supplier of aluminium building products and finishes, and is now the only powder coater in Australia to hold a QUALICOAT licence.

QUALICOAT is an international independent certification organisation whose objective is to achieve the highest quality for architectural powder coating. QUALICOAT is the world’s most comprehensive specification for powder coating, which requires independent third-party testing and auditing.

Since introducing its specialized powder coat finish DecoWood® in 2004, DECO Australia has become renowned for the exceptional quality of its finishes, testing to Australian and international standards for quality assurance, durability, non-combustibility and resistance to extreme weather conditions. As the only Australian finisher with the international QUALICOAT licence, DECO has firmly cemented its position as an industry leader in high quality aluminium coatings and finishes.

“We have been working towards this QUALICOAT accreditation for a number of years, and to be the only finisher in Australia with the QUALICOAT licence just proves our commitment to quality finishes and products,” said Richard Hamber, general manager of DECO Australia.

“It is not just enough to say we have the best quality finishes and finishing processes; we now have proof and independent certification that we have an unrivalled position in the market when it comes to quality.”

“Quality finishes not only provide high aesthetic values, but also extend the life of aluminum products. And when we are talking about the sustainability of building materials, finishes play an important factor in the building’s whole-of-life approach.”

The QUALICOAT licence means all the powder-coated finishes in DECO’s range – including DecoWood® timber-look, DecoVogue™ rust and concrete-look, DecoArt® custom and DecoCoat® solid colour finishes – comply with the requirements of the international QUALICOAT quality label.

To ensure ongoing quality, QUALICOAT licensees undergo regular stringent inspection and audits of their plant and processes to ensure rigorous quality controls are in place and every part of the process is compliant with international standards.

DECO is also currently working through compliance for QUALIDECO, which is the QUALICOAT specification for decorations, including DECO Australia’s sublimation processes for powder coating.
