Operable Wall for Boeing Training Centre

20 March 2023
The Boeing Training Centre in Victoria.

As a leading global aerospace company, Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries.

A Bildspec Series 100 Operable Wall has recently been installed as part of A1 Office’s expansion of the Boeing Training Centre in Port Melbourne, Victoria. The acoustic folding door was installed between two classrooms to allow easy adjustment in size of the respective training rooms whilst maintaining acoustic requirements.

A lot of time in training rooms is spent trying to comprehend the educator’s speech. Environments where it is difficult to hear can lead to a feeling of disconnection and a struggle to focus, which reduces learning outcomes. Bildspec Operable Walls have an important part to play in providing improved acoustics in such environments. Such acoustic folding doors improve speech intelligibility by reducing the intrusion of external noises from other spaces and adjacent classrooms. They also aid in the control of reverberation times to enhance speech intelligibility.

The acoustic wall installed at Boeing has a high Weighted Sound Reduction Index of Rw52. This is the measure of the wall’s reduction of sound transfer from adjacent spaces. Such high acoustic ratings greatly enhance flexible learning spaces where students can learn in a quiet yet robust physical learning environment.
