When you consider the simple concept of a table or desk as a raised task platform, it’s incredible how many forms they can take: dining tables can be heavy and wooden, or have fine aluminium legs; coffee tables can be sculpted from a single material or have tabletop and legs clearly expressed as different parts; and desks have evolved into height-adjustable surfaces in many forms.
