The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently installed its curved security door to the after-hours canteen on Deakin University's Burwood campus. The installation was part of a wider upgrade to the campus library, which is located nearby.
ATDC’s S08 curved security door was specified by Ian McEwan Designs of Surrey Hills, Victoria, and the project managers for the job were North Melbourne based Harris HMC. The specified door was approximately 9 m × 3,200 mm high and finished in a satin black powdercoat.
The installed security door traversed a 90° turn through a 600 mm curved radius and was supported from above by a structural support beam which followed the entire length of the span and the contours of the opening. The door had no floor tracking and so lockup was achieved through a series of multiple intermediate up/down locking mechanisms to achieve a seamless security solution.
