Warema's external venetian blinds have earned them the 2019 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award for their part in the project, Passive House LA (PHLA+). The single family home located in west Los Angeles is designed by Paravant Architects and focuses on sunstainable building practices and building a zero net energy (ZNE) home.
A ZNE home is a home or building with zero net energy consumption, meaning that the energy used by the building annually is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site. ZNE homes contribute lower overall greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere when compared to non-ZNE homes.
Warema's external venetian blinds provide highly effective solar protection to residential windows and commercial facades. Warema provides a range of selective slats covered in a coating that reduces solar gain by 50% while increasing daylight levels by 30% inside.
Reducing high levels of damaging ultraviolet and infrared raditation, enhancing natural daylight in the interior space helps reduce energy consumption while still creating a comfortable and relaxing living space.
