Powder on powder facade woodgrains

Fairview’s Stryüm uses powder on powder oak and ash woodgrains.

It is well known that natural timber products fade over time and need maintenance to retain their appearance, but did you know that woodgrain prints on aluminium also fade?

That’s why Fairview’s Stryüm uses powder on powder woodgrains. Utilizing a technology recently introduced to Australia, the Stryüm woodgrain is designed to provide a high definition, textured woodgrain for years to come, minimizing maintenance and costly rework. This finish is highly suited for use in Australia’s uniquely harsh environment.

Powder on powder is a multi-stage process. First, a base powder coat layer is applied. A second powder coat layer is then applied, which forms the grain. These two layers are cured together to form a single textured, powder coat layer.

Features and benefits include:

  • Textured finish – through the powder on powder process, Stryüm’s woodgrain features a textured finish. The grain forms a raised tactile surface that is noticeable when the surface is touched, helping enhance the realism of the finish.
  • Large scale design – on all aluminium woodgrain finishes, the woodgrain pattern repeats itself. However, in some products this repetition is greater than others. This repetition is highly visible on facades and diminishes the overall visual impact. That’s why the Stryüm woodgrain finish has the lowest repetition rate available which, when combined with a varying grain, mimics the natural variation of timber. This makes it perfect for both large, unobstructed facade areas and tight, detailed sections.
  • Designed to retain colour in Australia’s harsh environment – a common issue for typical aluminium woodgrains is a tendency for the grain to fade in the harsh Australian sunlight. This alternative application process, known as sublimation, leaves only the noticeably different base colour after the grain has faded.
  • Stryüm’s woodgrain in contrast utilizes a specific grain layer, cured to form a single layer. The result: a finish, both base and grain, that remains consistent throughout the life of the finish. The woodgrain panels will remain a woodgrain, rather than turning brown.
  • Twenty-five year warranty* – this colour retention is backed up by a 15 year colour warranty, and a 25 year finish integrity warranty (T&C’s apply). Unlike other products that cover just the base, this warranty covers both the base and the grain, highlighting the quality of the finish.
  • Minimising maintenance – being an aluminium product, Stryüm’s woodgrain does not need the maintenance of a natural wood product, and only requires the maintenance of a powder coat finish.
  • Non-combustible – Stryüm has been deemed non-combustible in accordance with AS1530.1 and AS1530.3 and is compliant in accordance with the BCA under clause C1.9(e)v.
  • Australian made – every part of the Stryüm woodgrain in made here in Australia, from the raw aluminium to the finish. Not only does this guarantee supply and quality but supports local jobs.
