Christie A Series barbecues were supplied for Hobart’s Legacy Park.

Legacy Park is a key feature in Hobart City Council’s initiative to rejuvenate the riverside Queens Domain. Legacy is a national charity devoted to supporting the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. The park is named in honour of Tasmania’s World War One soldiers’ service to their country. Funded by local, state, and federal governments, the area was developed to improve visitor facilities and provide one of the city’s best playgrounds.

Winner of the 2019 AILA Tasmania landscape architecture award for play spaces, the inclusive design allows people of all ages to play in the great outdoors. Amenities include parkour equipment, natural play spaces and clustered fitness spaces. These offer accessible ways to actively engage in promote better health and wellbeing in the great outdoors.

Additional facilities include multiple Christie A Series barbecues, wood-fired pizza ovens, a dining pavilion, an amphitheatre and open lawn spaces for the community to enjoy.

The staged construction of the park included the reinstating of 36 trees along the Soldiers Memorial Avenue, upgrading the car park and constructing a multi-purpose sporting pavilion, now known as the William Keith Eltham Pavilion. The vision for the precinct was always to create a true community space that would be used for a diverse range of activities.
