The 12-hectare JL Murphy Reserve is the largest controlled park in the City of Port Philip. The local community predominantly uses the park for active sport on the football and cricket ovals, exercise and walkway paths, the baseball diamond and soccer fields. Over the years, the park has been significantly upgraded to facilitate the increased participation of women in these sports.

Additional recreation activities and facilities include playgrounds, a “dig in” community garden, and grassy recreation areas featuring park barbecues and picnic areas. Here, visitors can bring a picnic or grill on one of the Christie public park barbecues.
