Australia’s leading outdoor barbecue manufacturer, Christie Barbecues, has announced their strategic partnership with Smartsensor Technologies, a leading internet of things technology company.

Marking the launch of the world’s first smart barbecue with management platform, the agreement is for the design, development, manufacture, and support of the world’s first natively intelligent smart barbecue and end-to-end solution.

To be known as the Christie CC2-i Electric Cooktop with GoAccess Platform (Smart barbecue), the sensor device and customizable platform provide deep insights into outdoor barbecues in public spaces, including usage, temperature, alert information, fault diagnostics, cleaning information, and historical data.

The smart barbecue and management platform will empower councils, public space asset and facility managers, and other asset owners to manage their barbecues effectively while driving down operational costs and maintenance.

The exclusive agreement for Australia and New Zealand will see significant numbers of Smartsensor Technologies’ sensors integrated and deployed with Christie barbecue cooktops, with the GoAccess asset management platform and application provided to clients.

Alex Christie, Christie’s Managing Director, said, “We started out on this Smart City journey to offer our clients the most comprehensive array of tangible benefits that our latest generation barbecue cooktop can provide. In partnering with Australia’s leading internet of things company, Smartsensor Technologies has developed an integrated sensor and management platform that enable us to offer our clients unprecedented visibility and robust analytics for proactive public barbecue asset management.”

The agreement commercializes the world’s first smart barbecue device and platform, which was recently released to the Australian market.

Leon Hayes, Managing Director of Smartsensor Technologies, said, “We are in awe of Christie and their team and truly humbled by the opportunity to work in partnership with them to revolutionize the public space barbecue market. As a third-generation family business, we look at Christie with deep respect and admiration. Our smart barbecue solution is a global first in many ways: the world’s first natively intelligent NB-IoT powered smart barbecue, the world’s first LoRaWAN powered smart barbecue, and simply the world’s first and most advanced smart barbecue device and asset management platform.”

The system has been launched on Telstra’s NB-IoT network and various LoRaWAN networks Australia wide.

Christie’s GoAccess app is available now to download from the Google Play and Apple app stores.
