International Leak Detection NZ Ltd holds the New Zealand license for a system that enables testing of existing membranes on concrete substrates, without the necessity of removing tiles, paving, hotmix or garden materials.

It can also be used on new applications to test the integrity of new membranes over concrete or plywood, placing overburden or at anytime in the future.

The Electric Field Vector Mapping system uses a low voltage electric current across a pre-wetted surface. Any breaches in the membrane allow an electrical connection with the substrate.

This connection can be accurately located using the EFVM probes and potentiometer.

ILD NZ Ltd has tested in excess of 50,000m2 of a variety of membranes in New Zealand and Australia. The results have been helpful to owners and contractors in determining the quality of membrane installation and the presence of breaches if any.

It has been used in projects that include the new Victoria Park Tunnel, the new Auckland Art Gallery developments and the ASB Bank in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter.
