Are you committed to Green Design?

Following the success of the inaugural awards last year, the 2010 LookHome™ Green Design Awards are now open.

Judged by a panel of industry experts, the awards recognize and reward the best in sustainable, affordable and innovatively designed homes, across the five categories of best new-custom built home, best display or demonstration home, best medium density/townhouse development, best renovation and best shed or studio

Australian designers, architects and builders are invited to upload their entries via www.lookhome.com.au now.

Entrants will need to demonstrate how their project: * is designed using materials chosen with regard to their embodied energy, and impact on energy efficiency, the health of occupants and the site on which the home is built; * addresses affordability in cost of construction and/or running and maintenance costs; * is innovative in design * incorporates lightweight construction and * meets the brief of the client

The judging panel of independent industry experts includes Robert Caulfield, Strategic Marketing Director for CKDesignworks; Sue Harris, Publisher for Architecture Media; Noel Dyett, Managing Director of Curnow Dyett; Stephen Berry, Director of Commercial Building Energy Efficiency, Buildings Government and Energy Efficiency Branch – Department of the Environment, Water, Hertiage and The Arts; and Ralph Horne, Director of Centre for Design, RMIT.

Recognition and Reward

Five Experts’ Choice Category Winners will win a trip for two valued at over $10,000 to Greenbuild 2010 in Chicago and a six page feature article on their winning project in the 2010 LookHome™ Design Annual valued at $23, 955. Five Popular Choice Category Winners, determined by the most online votes before entries close on 9 July 2009, will win a 5 page feature article on their winning project in the 2010 LookHome™ Design Annual valued at $19,962. There are also 5 Bonus Prizes up for grabs consisting of a double page spread in Houses magazine valued at $7,470 AND a five page feature article in the 2010 LookHome™ Design Annual valued at $19,962.

Entries open Monday 1 February and close Friday July 9. Winners will be announced online on Monday 27 September 2010 and in the 2010 LookHome™ Design Annual. Judging criteria and all terms and conditions are explained on the website.
