Locker Group decorative sunscreens at the IBIS Hotel, Sydney
Cox Richardson Architects designed a decorative sunscreen to surround the retail and hospitality areas of the Hotel IBIS, King Street Wharf. Several material options were assessed prior to specifying Locker Group Boston 712A.
Aluminium woven wire was specified to enable colour matching of the infill and frame; plus the lightweight nature of the material assisted in installing the façade. The ideal fixing arrangements were developed in conjunction with the builder to meet the peculiar demands of both the horizontal and vertical elevations of the façade as both the extrusion and woven wire were anodised to meet the architect’s design vision.
The Double Lock weave allowed Locker Group to roll the woven wire panels to meet the design requirements of the façade; avoiding the potential to fracture when undergoing further forming processes, such as rolling.
