Kingspan insulated panels
For firefighters, building design and functionality become critical considerations in an emergency situation – but the top item on a firefighter’s list is safety, particularly in the case of cold stores. Kingspan insulated panels, made of polyisocyanurate (PIR), char in a fire and remain intact and self-supporting.
Some other panelling materials melt as fire spreads through a building, making them a significant contributor to major fires. These less fire-resistant materials are viewed as an extremely high risk by insurers – and by firefighters, who recognize the health and safety risks posed by building materials that cannot withstand high temperatures.
Kingspan is concerned that architects and designers know the facts. Preferred by insurers and firefighters, Kingspan insulated panels remain intact and self-supporting in a fire.
