Founded in 1889 by John M. Bernhardt, the Bernhardt Furniture Company quickly established a market in the growing urban centers of Chicago and New York City.

As the business continued to develop under the leadership of the Bernhardt family, new product categories such as dining and living room furniture were added, seeing additional facilities being built or purchased from other furniture manufacturers to meet demand.

More recently, Bernhardt Design has developed a strong relationship with the architectural and design communities and is renowned for its excellence in upholding superior design standards, winning many awards through the years.

Suzanne Trocmé is one of many internationally known designers to join the creative team at Bernhardt Design.

Suzanne Trocmé has created an elegant, yet simple collection she likes to call the “little black dress” of Bernhardt Design.

Her collection is focused on the people who sit on them and are therefore adaptable, making them suitable for all occasions.
