One stop surface safety solutions feature at swim school
This Sydney northern beaches based swim school has undergone a major refurbishment project.
Part of the project was their flooring and associated disability access requirements. They contacted Global Safe Technologies to visit and assess the situation and to provide solutions, which were relevant standards compliant, sustainable, environmentally friendly, aesthetically appealing and easy to clean.
The Global Safe’s floor safety consultant had attended the site and after consultation with the owner, it was decided for their flooring to apply the Supa Safe, HB 197:1999 handbook recommended value compliant, environmentally friendly Anti-Slip coating system with speckle coating onto the pool surrounds and stairs. For the stairs, the Global Safe consultant advised to use AS 1428.4 compliant Safe Grip Non Slip stair nosing and the glued down warning tactile ground surface indicator tiles at the top and the bottom of the stairs.
The floor and other surface safety work were scheduled towards the back end of the entire refurbishment. Due to unforeseen problems, a delay occurred which resulted in a delay of the proposed solutions implementation to the last minute. The Global Safe team included one principal of Global Safe Technologies and one of its authorised floor safety specialists, from Global Safe NSW. The team worked tirelessly and overcame several obstacles to ensure that the opening of the school would never be in question.
The work has completed and the managing director of the swim school has commented: “Our project had fallen behind schedule and the opening day was approaching fast. The Global Safe team could only start work when almost all the other building works were nearing completion. They had to work around other tradesmen, and at the same time, the pool had to be filled. I was very impressed with the Global Safe team’s positive, “get it done, no matter what” attitude and hard work to ensure that the pool opening was not jeopardized. They worked long hours and completed their specific tasks within the limited time to my total satisfaction.
We are very impressed not only with the professionalism of the company and its installers but with the quality of the work and products. Their attention to detail and to our requirements, which changed as the project progressed, was amazing. Nothing was ever a problem and the Global Team was helpful and understanding throughout the installation process.
Tibor and his team gave us great service, great advice and helped us by ensuring that our swim school opened on time “ - Brooke Withers.
In addition, as part of Global Safe’s industry unique offering the new Anti-Slip surface was independently tested by Safe Environments www.safeenvironments.com.au and came up with flying colours, achieving a high wet Pendulum Class V classification of the new Anti-Slip surface.
As per Global Safe’s company policy of providing sustainable solutions, all the products employed have also undergone accelerated wear testing. This indicative wear based on the after installation slip resistance test will ensure that the surface will provide a long-term slip resistance standard compliant solution. To assist the swim school, Global Safe also provided a site specific cleaning and maintenance program for the newly treated surfaces as well as offered its industry unique risk management program which is offered at no additional cost** to commercial clients.
** Minimum surface safety solution value applicable to have free slip resistance test. When Anti-Slip solution value is small, independent slip test can be provided at an additional cost.
