BIOS antibacterial production process

BIOS is the new antibacterial production process from Casalgrande Padana, characterized by remarkable antibacterial properties achieved through an innovative patented production process.

During the processing stages, the material is added with mineral particles generating an extremely effective antibacterial reaction. The patented product (patent no. O2005A000232) has been developed in a research project conducted by Casalgrande Padana in collaboration with the University of Modena. During strict laboratory tests, it has proven highly effective, since it can achieve a 99.9% reduction in the four main bacteria families: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The bactericide action generated by the process described above remains unchanged over time. No light is needed to enable it, and its beneficial effects are magnified in the presence of moisture. Therefore, the product can be used in those applications that require high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, safety and easy maintenance, such as health structures, research labs, schools, swimming pools, sports facilities, wellness centres, locker rooms, toilets, kitchens and canteens, restaurants and so on.

From the aesthetic and compositional point of view, no limits apply: finishes, colours and formats are selected according to the specific needs of the project, with a wide range of customization opportunities.

BIOS ceramic elements may be supplied in their natural, polished and glazed versions, since the antibacterial particles are embedded in the core of the tile, not only on the surface.
