DuPont Corian Solid Surface

Invented by DuPont™ in 1967, Corian® is the original solid surface. DuPont™ Corian® is a solid, seamless, non-porous homogeneous surfacing material made from natural minerals and acrylic resin. Corian® is chosen as the material of choice for a new or renovation project for one or more of the following reasons.

Seamless
DuPont™ Corian® can be joined together seamlessly to create a one piece homogenous look, giving virtually unlimited design possibilities as a decorative surface.

Hygienic
DuPont™ Corian® is a non-porous material. It is solid through it's entire thickness and can be fabricated with inconspicuous seams, rendering it's surface hygienic. DuPont™ Corian® surfaces do not support the growth of bacteria or fungi.

Repairable
Surfaces in DuPont™ Corian® are renewable, meaning they can be fully restored to their original condition. Damage caused by abuse can usually be repaired on site by a DuPontTM Certified Fabricator, without having to completely replace the material.

Thermoformable
DuPont™ Corian® can be thermoformed in wooden or metal moulds at controlled temperatures in order to create various 2D and 3D design objects. Embossing effects can also be created using the Bas Relief technique.

Translucent
The translucency of DuPont™ Corian® is especially striking in the lighter colours as well as thinner sheets. Many designers are now using the material to create lamps or lighting effects in various applications. The new colour family called the Illumination Series, features enhanced translucency to be used for creating special lighting effects.

Sustainable design
DuPont™ Corian® is manufactured in compliance with strict standards in order to limit waste and energy consumption at all stages of the production process. Both the material itself and the joining adhesive are GREEN GUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® as producing low VOC emissions. DuPont™ Corian® can also help commerical building projects obtain credit points toward achieving their desired Green Star rating.
