Art Gilding
Art Gilding was founded in 1975 by Karl Eggert, a Master Gilder who trained as a church restorer in Cologne, Germany. Karl is one of the world’s pre-eminent experts on metal leaf gilding with over 45 years of experience. He is passionate and devoted to this fascinating craft and takes great pleasure in the long-lasting effects of his work. Gilding was once a secret craft, passed only from Father to Son, but today, Karl enjoys teaching this fine ancient craft to students.
