StrataCell modules provide uncompacted root space for trees in cities - an essential factor of the healthy urban tree.
StrataCell modules have been designed to support enormous vertical loads, so that tree root systems can be brought closer to the pavement surface. Engineers have calculated that with only 300mm of granular pavement depth Strata Cell matrixes can support maximum traffic loads. It is essential that pavement designs are certified by a practising project engineer and poured concrete slabs or lighter traffic loads may permit the Strata Cell matrix to be brought still closer to the surface.
Lateral forces must also be provided for in engineering design of tree pits. StrataCell units lock together to form a monolithic structure with excellent modular strength.
Positive and secure connectors are a feature of the StrataCell patented design both vertically and laterally. Strata Cell modules are simple and fast to click together, producing an integrated matrix. The open, skeletal structure of the StrataCell matrix provides an optimal growth zone for tree roots. In excess of 94% of the total volume is available for tree root growth!
