Winning project features Woodn composite bamboo
The Platform Apartments project by Architectus won the Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Award for Excellence in Affordable Development and the Master Builders Association NSW Award for Affordable Housing.

Woodn composite bamboo ceiling and decking products have been utilized on The Platform Apartments project by Architectus for City West Housing, which has picked up two awards. The project won the Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Award for Excellence in Affordable Development and the Master Builders Association NSW Award for Affordable Housing.

The Platform Apartments are an excellent example of how affordable housing should be done, with well-designed and excellent internal amenity and good-size apartments with quality finishes throughout. The development has generous balconies with Woodn composite bamboo decking, quality detailing, high levels of solar access and an attractive, usable communal roof top.

The architectural design, robust materials and attention to detail in the common areas, including the unusual and generous external circulation galleries with Woodn composite bamboo ceiling lining are all very well resolved and appropriate. The Platform Apartments are a great fit for the inner city occupants and the owners’ need for low maintenance. All this, and an average NatHERS rating of 5.9 stars.
