Winner of Selector Best New Product Award 2012 at DesignBuild
Vacuum Toilets Australia’s vacuum toilet systems have won the Selector Best New Product Award for 2012 at DesignBuild in Melbourne.
Launched in August 2011, the vacuum toilet systems use less than one litre of water per flush compared to the eight litres used by conventional toilets. The vacuum toilet systems are similar to those on aeroplanes, using suction as the flushing mechanism instead of water.
The jury commented, “We were impressed by the leap this system makes in terms of water efficiency, ease of retrofit and the reduction in waste. It does not rely on gravity feed, which eliminates the need for penetrations in retrofit installations. It also reduces the volume of sewerage. We felt this was a major leap forward in terms of water efficiency.”
The jury also commended two finalists, power monitoring application Power Tracker, and concrete-based insulation product clinkaFILL by Clinka.
