The Viridian SmartGlass range, which officially launched this month, has already taken top honors at the recent 2011 HIA GreenSmart Awards, winning Product of the Year.
At a memorable celebration on Thursday 18 August in Melbourne, Viridian joined the best of the industry to recognize builders and manufacturers who lead the way in environmentally responsible housing.
Viridian SmartGlass won judges’ acclaim for its range of four residential single glazed energy efficient glass options, selected specifically for Australia’s demanding climate.
Viridian SmartGlass delivers superior insulation performance, up to 39% better than ordinary glass. Being a single-glazed product, SmartGlass is an affordable upgrade from ordinary glass, making it simple for builders, specifiers and consumers to achieve a more comfortable, energy efficient home. Consumers can enjoy significant energy savings all year round, as well as boost their home’s energy rating by up to a whole ‘Star’ in some cases.
Viridian’s general manager of marketing. Lachlan Austin, confirms that SmartGlass will enhance Viridian’s comprehensive range of single and double glazed products by providing an entry level product in the category of energy efficient glazing, helping to make advanced glazing more accessible to Australian builders, renovators and homeowners.
“We’ve had an excellent take up of SmartGlass, with several major volume builders signing up in advance, as a cost effective way for them to achieve more sustainability focused designs that achieve higher energy ratings without sacrificing natural light and aspect,” says Lachlan.
“SmartGlass is an entry level energy efficient product, complementing our higher performance ranges for colder climates such as ThermoTech double glazing and ThermoTech-E double glazing with Low-E coating.
“Home buyers are wanting to know more about their window and glass options as they are increasingly becoming aware of the difference windows make to the comfort, energy efficiency and general appeal and livability of their homes while builders are looking for ways to respond to this trend.
“We’re certainly honored that the HIA has chosen to recognize our efforts to provide the glass options tuned specifically to meet the needs of the local market,” said Lachlan.
Viridian SmartGlass range comes in a range of tones – clear, neutral, green and grey, which offer increasing levels of solar protection from the sun’s heat and greater glare control.
