Switched On 2012 student design competition winners announced
After a rigorous judging process, winners of Switched On, Brightgreen’s national student design competition, have been announced.
- First prize: Benjamin Donnelly (QUT)
- Second prize: Tamara Kyd (University of Canberra)
- Third prize: Daniel Broder (Swinburne)
The winning design selected by the judging panel was the Path LED skirting board system by Benjamin Donnelly, an industrial design student at QUT in Brisbane.
Benjamin’s innovative and sustainable design allows users to navigate their homes at night through indirect orientation lighting, which cleverly blends in with a residential or commercial environment.
“The aim of Switched On is to uncover the ultimate eco-‐lighting solution, as conceived by a student designer. Benjamin really achieved this with Path, which offers both a practical and sustainable solution,” says Brightgreen CEO and head product designer, David O’Driscoll, who led the Switched On judging process.
Winners will share a prize pool of $3,000 for their innovative designs.
