Sophisticated rooftop terrace apartment is a hot property
Panoramic Sydney CBD skyline views have now been made possible with the recent installation of a SKYMECH® operable glass roof system at the top of a 10-story apartment block in Potts Point.
Centrepoint Tower, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge are just some of the incredible sights that can be enjoyed from the large rooftop terrace. The owners and visitors of the property can easily access this space via an internal stairwell that is sealed by an operable glass hatch.
This stylish roof was selected by the client to meet architectural and aesthetic requirements that would match the landscape and setting of the courtyard whilst offering an area for leisure and entertainment.
"Not only does the glass hatch bring in natural light to our apartment, but it has allowed access to the garden with ease,” stated property owner, Toni Johnston. “I can entertain friends without having to climb the fire-escape.”
Following completion, the 203 m² apartment has been put onto the property market for auction managed by Jane Schumann and Gary Sands at DiJones Real Estate.
The moving panel assembly is constructed of high quality marine grade stainless steel that is both durable and corrosion resistant. The purpose-designed toughened laminated glass supplied by Viridian is set on a painted structural steel sub-frame that opens and closes by way of two electric and mechanical actuators by Linak.
Design, construction and commissioning were completed solely onsite the Kennovations facility in Artarmon. The installation process involved a crane lifting the preassembled roof approximately 30 metres high from a narrow alley. For less than a minute the glass roof was suspended from a 45 tonne crane that successfully maneuvered it from the truck to the terrace.
