Shadowclad plywood cladding re-launch popular at Frame 2015
In order to meet the challenges of increased density housing in the inner and middle suburbs, builders and specifiers are turning to using timber and engineered wood building systems. By doing this they also ensure viability and housing affordability.
The team from Carter Holt Harvey® Woodproducts Australia gave the attendees of Frame 2015 a taste of the new brand identity for Shadowclad®. Speaking from the conference, Craig Willson, Marketing & Technical Manager Plywood said “Frame 2015 was an opportunity to give the market a sneak peak at a larger project to reinvigorate and connect Shadowclad with our architectural audience. The product has been well supported over many years and has been specified in some iconic architectural projects. It is well suited to many applications including multi-residential, prefabrication and medium density developments.
Shadowclad provides specifiers with a natural wood exterior cladding that is well suited to most architectural styles. It adds street appeal to any project, whether it is used alone or accented with other building materials. The re-launch of Shadowclad, due to hit the Australian market later this month, will include a full range of comprehensive technical literature to help support the offer. Manufactured from sustainably grown plantation pine, Shadowclad can be used as both a strong, yet lightweight exterior cladding or as an internal lining when un-treated. The Exhibitors’ display at Frame 2015 was developed to assist specifiers and builders in learning more about utilising timber and engineered wood systems.
Shadowclad is a nominally 12 mm thick wall cladding available in sheets of 1200 mm wide and lengths of 2440 or 2745 mm with a shiplap weather groove joint on the long edge of each sheet. The surface has a rough band sawn texture making it ideal for exterior applications to deflect UV exposure. Shadowclad is also available in a Textured or Grooved profile giving versatility in its application. The Shadowclad Ultra panels come with a factory applied, specifically designed performance coating system. When compared with uncoated timber finishes this helps save time and money on site from the usual costs of priming and painting while offering increased durability and moisture resistance.
To assist specifiers and builders on an on-going basis, Carter Holt Harvey has recently expanded their Plywood team. Evan Dalziel joins the team in a new role as the Shadowclad Business Development Manager, focusing on the specification of Shadowclad. Mike Baldwin, National Sales Manager of Plywood explained, “With twenty years’ experience in the industry and dedication to business development; Evan has proven experience and success in expanding markets in the construction and specification sectors.”
