New water playground will be a hit this summer
The Ipswich community is set for summer with a new playground at River Heart Parklands that features a custom COROCORD net and an interactive water play circuit. The playground was opened during the September school holidays and has already proved to be a hit with the kids.
A focal point of the park is the custom Large Octanet, designed by COROCORD in conjunction with Brisbane-based company Urban Play. Young and old climbers alike navigate their way through the unique rope system to access a ‘Sky Cabin’ and then exit via a 10m long slide.
German company Richter provided the elements that form the water play area, which encourages children to interact with natural elements in a safe environment. Children can control the flow of water using pumps, a water wheel and water switches. The area is also aesthetically appealing, with ocean motifs decorating the concrete.
Sydney’s Darling Quarter features a similar water playground and has attracted thousands of kids since opening in September 2011.
The River Heart playground also boasts a 25m long flying fox, a selection of swings for all age groups, including a Bird’s Nest swing and a custom COROCORD pendulum swing, plus a variety of sand play items.
Catering to all ages and abilities, the playground combines an exhilarating experience with maximum safety and is sure to be a big drawcard for both residents and visitors across South-East Queensland.
Urban Play supplied and installed the play equipment and worked with Vee Design, JMAC Constructions and the Ipswich City Council to design the destination playground.
