Intergrain launches Timber Vision Awards for 2011
The 2011 Intergrain Timber Vision Awards is set to launch at deisgnEX on 13 April, inviting architects, landscapers and designers nationwide to showcase their visionary use of timber in residential and commercial design projects.
With visionary design and innovation at its core, Intergrain created the Awards in 2010 as a way to recognise the valuable and increasingly diverse role timber plays in today’s architecture and landscape design.
Last year, the inaugural Awards program invited established and emerging architects and designers to submit projects in one of four categories – Residential Interior, Residential Exterior, Commercial Interior and Commercial Exterior – with entries judged by a panel of experienced representatives from the Australian Institute of Architects and Intergrain.
Following the success of its inaugural year, 2011 sees the Intergrain Timber Vision Awards grow to include a ‘Young Architects’ category and “People’s Choice Award’.
Open to architects and designers aged 30 years or younger, the ‘Young Architects’ category offers a specific forum for industry new-comers to showcase their work in front of peers, while the ‘People’s Choice Award’ gives the industry a chance to further engage with the campaign through recognising and rewarding those projects which inspire them most.
Stuart McCausland, Intergrain Brand Manager, says the Intergrain Timber Vision Awards aim to continually celebrate those professionals who step outside the box to inspire with creative timber in design.
“Being recognised as Australia’s high performance timber coating brand, Intergrain strives to continually break new ground with innovative timber coating products for industry professionals,” said Stuart.
“Looking at the calibre of entries received in 2010, it’s clear many of the design and architecture community share our passion for timber in design. We’re looking forward to seeing what 2011 has in store,” Stuart continued.
2010 winners of the Intergrain Timber Vision Awards enjoyed fantastic exposure across a number of industry publications, which John Grove of Grove Architects – winner of last year’s Residential Exterior category – cites as a valuable and attractive proposition for architecture and design professionals in 2011.
“We were very pleased to have our Woollahra House 11 project win the Residential Exterior category in the 2010 Intergrain Timber Vision Awards, providing us with great exposure amongst industry peers and the community,” said John Grove of Grove Architects.
“It’s great to see programs such as this promoting innovative and sustainable design, and I look forward to seeing what projects the 2011 Intergrain Timber Vision Awards will bring to the industry’s attention,” Grove continued.
As well as the unique opportunity to showcase work in front a prestigious industry audience, Intergrain Timber Vision Awards winners also receive a $2,000 cash prize, editorials featuring their project in industry magazines plus Intergrain product to the value of $5,000. Entries open 13 April 2011.
