Heliostat System is number 8 in the SMART 100 Awards
Australian Anthill, Australia’s leading entrepreneurial and business online media channel have ranked the Architectural Heliostat & Daylighting System number 8 out of 700+ submissions in the SMART 100 Awards.
The SMART 100 Awards are designed to support innovation in Australia, with merit determined by its focus towards the future. This year, over 700 submissions were received and shortlisted from which 50 judges scored each innovation based on the potential of each to achieve consumer adoption and commercial success.
Kennovations developed the heliostat system over several years for the One Central Park development on Broadway, Sydney, with final commissioning taking place late 2013. The innovation came to life when French Architect Jean Nouvel conceptualised the heliostat system among other architectural elements to support a sustainable urban living.
The heliostat system works by capturing sunlight and redirecting it into retail spaces and onto landscaped terraces within the precinct. It is an innovative solution in addressing shading issues in high-density living environments. The integrated technology not only meets today’s needs for natural lighting, but also presents a vividly artistic structure that is prominent both day and night via integrated LED’s.
“We are excited to see the heliostat system in the top ten of the SMART 100 Awards,” stated Kennovations General Manager, Tim Phillips. “Following a long development period, the heliostat system is truly the first of its kind in terms of innovation and design.”
