Gyprock launches new residential installation guide.

CSR Gyprock has released a new residential installation guide to help architects, designers and DIYers with the design and installation of Gyprock’s wide range of gypsum-based products in residential building and renovation projects. One of the most comprehensive installation manuals in the industry, the new guide provides detailed information on the fixing and jointing of the full range of Gyprock plasterboards for both internal and external applications, including wet area applications, to ensure the smooth completion of any project.

Responding to a general shift in the use of plasterboard, the new guide further expands on the installation of Gyprock in alfresco environments, such as patios, carports and verandas for both walls and ceiling installations. The guide now also includes a separate section on the fire safety requirements of walls within close proximity to the property boundary to ensure that projects meet the Fire Resistance Level (FRL) as specified by the BCA.

With a strong focus on highly accurate technical data, the guide also considers the impact of wind loads, incorporating calculations based on Gyprock’s own pioneering testing in this area. As such, the new manual features detailed span tables for framing and fixing centres of perimeter walls and for framing centres of furring channels in ceilings exposed to wind load forces as defined in standard AS4055.

Commenting on the new guide, Najwa Khoury, Gyprock Marketing Manager, says, "the DesignLINK team of architects, engineers and building designers oversaw the creation of the manual to ensure it corresponds to current BCA requirements, while also pushing for extra testing to prove capability. The result is an outstanding piece of collateral which is sure to be the go-to manual for the residential segment."

The new residential guide offers handy tips throughput, such as product selection and compound calculation tables, making it an invaluable source of information for anyone involved with wall and ceiling lining design and installation. Spreading over 80 pages, it follows the same format as Gyprock’s new commercial manual, which was released earlier this year, to assist industry professionals who work in both segments.

The following five sections make the guide a quick and easy point of reference:

While industry professionals will still need to rely on system specific guides as well as the Gyprock Red Book for fire and acoustic guidelines, the majority of residential installations can be handled through this inclusive document.
