Custom works: Patan, Vaucluse residence
This custom rug has been one of our favourite works so far. The client initially came into the showroom and loved the Patan rug in Aqua, hand-woven in pure hemp. She simply adored the natural look and feel of hemp. She also liked the ‘factorial pattern’ that overlayed the gradient background.
We took the Patan in Aqua rug to try out in situ. The client's home had been freshly renovated but the floors and walls were complete, so she knew the colour scheme for the interiors. Although the Patan (in Aqua) looked good in situ, she felt the colours weren’t quite right. She wanted something with a bit more warmth that would complement the floors and dark fireplace and other pieces of furniture. At the same time she loved this design. So we suggested the option of creating a custom rug in the same design and materials but a different colour to complement the rest of the interior.
The client wanted something in the beige, so together we picked out a few colours that might work. Also, since she liked the pattern so much, she wanted it to be more apparent in the design than in the Patan Aqua. So we tweaked the design and picked colours to create the desired effect. We then had the sample hand-knotted in Nepal as per our specifications and 3 weeks later, the sample arrived!
The sample looked great but, it was only when the client took it home and tried it out in situ that we realised that, it was a no-brainer. It would be perfect!
The rug was immediately approved for production and our production team in Nepal did an excellent job with the final rug. The installation in particular took a little longer with a few revisions in between, but it was definitely worth it. Because at the end of the day, it’s about getting it right. The rugs we make are made to last a lifetime, so why not take the time get it just right.
The client was very happy and said “I have no problem referring you to anyone”.
We liked the Patan in Taupe design so much, that we’ve just added to it our exclusive collection- and it’s already one of our most popular designs!
