Awning of a new day.

A custom glass awning has been designed, engineered and installed by Kennovations for a luxury harbour view five bedroom house in Mosman, Sydney.

At the main entry of the house is the stylish awning that provides cover from rain and wind for residents and their guests. The sleek design was made to complement a dual sliding roof that was also custom design and constructed by Kennovations as part of this residential project.

The custom glass awning is made of toughened laminated glass measuring 3.7 x 2.5 m that was supplied by Aluminum and Glass Constructions, and is suspended by two stainless steel arms.

These steel members form a critical part of the structure by ‘sandwiching’ the glass that is supported underneath by a flat bar and drilled-in fixings. The structural members extend into the house hidden behind the building fascia that supports the awning system, taking the force of the weight.

Due to the 250 kg weight of the glass, a panel lifter with suction caps was required to lift the the glass from underneath onto the structural steel members during installation.

The awning was successfully completed and installed in December, 2013 and met the criteria and requirements of the client brief.

Kennovations would like to acknowledge PBC Builders for their assistance with the construction and installation at site.
