Alfresco dining with impressive operable glass sliding roof
La Boheme Restaurant and Bar in Glebe, Sydney is found in an authentically European stonemason cottage on 199 Glebe Point Road that is delightfully warm and rustic, attracting visitors and loyal customers from all over Sydney.
With city skyline views and a mix of stone and timber floors, an impressive finish was required to provide natural light and ventilation that would create an alfresco atmosphere by bringing in sunlight.
Kennovations custom designed and constructed an operable glass sliding roof system to match the client’s request of being fully operable, weatherproof, trafficable and, of course, maximizes natural lighting in the restaurant’s dining areas.
“The operable glass sliding roof system provides an attractive aesthetic for our patrons,” said Christina Anthony, Property Developer of La Boheme. “It compliments the theme of the restaurant and is often remarked on by those lucky enough to enjoy its benefits during dinner.”
The glass roof covers a central void area of 2.3 m × 4.1 m and can be opened in favourable weather conditions or fully closed and sealed when it rains without blocking the natural light. A main frame, static glass panel and another 2 m x 2 m sliding glass panel makes up the operable glass sliding roof system that can be stopped anywhere along its track when operated via a switch panel.
When reflecting on the technical aspects of the project, Christina was more than impressed, “The design considered everyday general use and also took into consideration the difficult installation location and long term maintenance. Kennovations were professional in the design, manufacture and installation process, and have been supportive during the commissioning phase for the product as well.”
