Albert Park renovation uses Mafi Oak characther timber floors
Mafi Oak Character Brushed Natural Oil 240mm wide boards were selected for the open plan kitchen, dining and living room floors of a Nicholas Murray Architects designed renovation and extension to an existing three bedroom Victorian terrace house in Albert Park, Melbourne.
Ideal for blending and transitioning between the heritage and contemporary parts of the building, Mafi Oak floors tied the various spaces together with a lovely walking surface that has a natural timber aesthetic whilst being practical to maintain and live with.
Mafi Oak Character is a warm golden colour, with a subtle character suited to a rustic or modern-contemporary look. It falls in between the Oak Country grade with lots of natural knots and crack lines, and Oak Clear that is free from any imperfections. Mafi floors stand out due to their longevity and robustness, and are 100% all-natural, free from harmful substances such as formaldehyde.
The hand crafted, engineered board consists of three-layers with the top and bottom made of the same species, ensuring perfect balance. The middle layer is conifer and runs across the grain for added strength. The layers are glued together with an all-natural glue of water, lime and plant acid. Each board comes pre-finished with a superior brushed textured surface and all-natural oil finish making it suitable for heavily frequented domestic and commercial areas, as well as over under floor heating and in bathrooms.
