Adding colour to people's lives
AkzoNobel is stepping up its mission to add colour to people’s lives by turning all its Decorative Paints employees into colour ambassadors.
The worldwide program – taking place in more than 50 countries – is part of a major initiative to turn grey places into colourful spaces. Highlighted by this week’s Global Color Week event (which starts today), it will help to underline the company’s status as the global color authority.
“Adding color to people’s lives, be it through painting a school, a hospital or an entire neighbourhood, is a great way for us to highlight the transformative power of color,” explains Tex Gunning, AkzoNobel’s Board member responsible for Decorative Paints.
“We want all our employees to have a better understanding of color and how, by changing the physical environment, we can help contribute to improved social cohesion.”
Running from October 4 to 8, the Global Color Week will involve employees worldwide, who will engage in a series of community events and activities and put into action some of what they have learned.
“Enhancing employee expertise will enable us to combine our collective color intelligence and inspire people to live more colourful lives,” continues Gunning. “Our Let’s Color campaign – which involves transforming local communities – has already been a huge success and this is the next step in strengthening AkzoNobel’s leading position as the global color authority.”
This week’s global event will also include the launch of AkzoNobel’s Color Futures 2011 international trends publication on October 5, while color expert Per Nimer will be in Amsterdam on October 7 to host a lecture on the future of color.
